Seabass Collection: Sven Cycles Classic Cyclocross Build
At first glance you wouldn't be mistaken for thinking that this is a vintage cyclocross bike straight out of the 1970's. However, it was in fact built just a few years ago by Sven Cycles of Dorset, UK in a classic vintage style but with modern Reynolds 853 pro team steel lugged tubing and an oversized down-tube. It's fully bespoke and custom fitted to Sven Cycles founder, Darron Coppin as an exhibition build, finished in pearl white with some stunning details.
Every component has been carefully chosen to fit the vintage aesthetic whilst also being fully functional and the the subtle use of retro colour's result in a build that comes together beautifully. It's built up with a rare 7-speed Campagnolo groupset with a long cage rear mech and unintentionally on trend single front chainring. The rear mech, chainring, brake levers, seatpost and stem have been meticulously drilled out, as was a theme on race bikes in the 70's to lighten them up. Cantilever Mafac brakes bring the bike to a stop, clamping onto the H&Son TB14 rims that are laced to 1980's NOS Royce large flange hubs which were serviced by Royce and are another rare component. The tires are modern 33mm Challenge Chicanes and the perch is a classic Brook's saddle. Last of the contact points are the handlebar and stem combo which are by Japanese company Nitto.
