The Urban Hill Climb returned to Swains Lane in North London last weekend, the infamous ramp bathed in autumnal sunshine. With a chill in the air, the riders took off at set times throughout the day for their one and a bit minute effort of gravity fighting self inflicted pain. This year there were eight categories - Folding bike, Junior, Youth, Cargo bike, Mens, Women's and Veterans Mens and Women's. The variety of riders and the equally varied display of bikes was brilliant and the narrow lane was a cacophony of noise that was met with some amazing pain faces. This uniquely British discipline really is completely nuts but also absolutely brilliant and hilarious, chapeau to all those that took part.
