This is Bryn Hodge's hand-built, fully custom fitted, steel adventure bike by UK based, frame-builder Mercredi. It's a bike with a rugged build, designed for versatility and to be ridden anywhere, on any surface. Bryn races cyclocross for Mercredi and works for the cycling events company Haute Route. It is one of eight team bikes build for the Mercredi Good Vibes Only CX racing team that competes in cross and gravel races.
The frame geometry is completely custom to Beth and was designed around a bike fit analysis performed by Tony Corke, at Torke Cycling in Bath. Its made of fillet brazed Columbus steel and the filets are left un-filed with a Life tubing front end and a Zona MTB rear end. The fork is thru-axle carbon and is painted up with the unique team issue floral design. Its an agile and responsive frame with clearance for the comfy adventure set up of the 650B Zipp wheels shod with the big rubber'd WTB Byway 47c tires. All of Mercredi's team frames take 700c x 40 or 650b x 2.1, enabling Beth to go off on an epic weekend bike-packing trip then swap the kit over to a set of 700c wheels with 33mm tires and race a muddy cross race the following Sunday. The wide clearance also means theres less nooks and crannies for mud to get lodged in the frame.
It's finished off with top spec components - A Zipp stem, handbar, seat-post and bottle cages. The drivetrain is SRAM's Force 1X mechanical group-set and there's a Chris King headset with a threaded no fuss, no squeak bottom bracket. The paint job was completed by Bristol's Colourburn Studios who paint up all of Mercredi's bikes and is a robust powder coat for durability.
Its a fully tricked out set-up that offers Beth incredible versatility with components to get the job done, it also looks the business aesthetically with all the proportions, colours and components making for a very beautiful bike thats also super functional and fast on a variety of terrain.
